Hours & Fees
Pet Emergency and Referral Center is open 24 hours, every single day of the year for emergency and emergency surgery care. You can ALWAYS call or come in to reach a staff member who can help in the case of an emergency or guide your next step in regard to specialty care. Some of our specialty services may not be available at all times such as neurology, cardiology, and elective surgery but you can always call to set up an appointment or ask questions and we will be more than happy to help guide you.
Regarding payment: We accept major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. Payment is due at time of service and a deposit is required for patients being hospitalized and/or having surgery. Personal checks can be used but must be approved through TeleCheck prior to acceptance, which is done in our office. Unfortunately, we have tried to provide billing and payment plans numerous times in the past and have found this to be a non-viable way for us to conduct business, therefore we do not offer credit through billing or payment plans. We do accept CareCredit to help with payments. For more information regarding CareCredit and to apply click here.
Hours: Open every day 24 hours for emergencies, transfers, and walk-ins.
Fees: $85 Emergency fee. Estimate given for additional diagnostics or treatments if necessary.
Emergency services are available 100% of the time, day or night. The emergency fee is $85 which includes the examination and consultation with the doctor on staff. After assessment has been made, any further diagnostics or treatment will be explained and estimates presented for approval.
Patients transferring from their primary care facility for further inpatient treatment are not charged an emergency fee; however, it is imperative that we receive a phone call or medical record from that day from your primary care for this to be in effect. That way we can be up to date on what has been done and what needs to be done to provide accurate and efficient diagnosis and treatment.

Dr. Hanson and the surgical team hold appointments at Pet Emergency and Referral Center on Northlake Blvd. on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 8 a.m. until noon at which point Dr. Hanson and his team begin surgeries in the afternoon. Appointments in the afternoon can be arranged but may require flexibility regarding wait times or dropping off a patient since these are surgery hours. Dr. Hanson's examination and consultation fee is $99 and any further diagnostics or treatment will be presented as an estimate for your approval. Consultation with Dr. Hanson does not obligate your pet to have surgery and all diagnostics and treatment options will be discussed in detail prior to any surgical procedure being decided upon.
Even though Dr. Hanson does not hold appointment or surgical hours at this location on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Weekends, he is always reachable by our staff and in contact with our facility if he has patients in the hospital; and patients are being cared for by Emergency Services staff under his direction.
